Google Ad Grants

What is the Google Ad Grant?

  • The Google Ad Grants program offers eligible nonprofits up to $10,000 USD per month of in-kind search advertising on Google search engine results pages.
  • To be eligible to receive a Google Ad Grant your organization must be an approved member of the Google for Nonprofits program, holding a valid charitable status in your country.
  • Learn more about the program in our Guide to Google Ad Grants.

Who needs Google Ad Grant support?

Applying for a Google Ad Grant and avoiding account suspension can be complex!

Additionally, many organizations struggle to leverage the Ad Grant to bring traffic to their website and generate conversions.

Many nonprofit communications staffers seek external support to set up and manage the Google Ad Grant account.

Google Ad Grant Account Review

Get Started: Order Your Google Ad Grant Review

Order a Google Ad Grant Account Review to get a comprehensive health check for your account, plus recommendations for how to improve performance.

If your organization’s Ad Grant account has been suspended your review will include recommendations for bringing your account back into compliance with Ad Grant program rules, and steps to reactivate the account.

The report and recommendations are delivered on a Zoom call, where you will also have an opportunity to ask questions and explore options for future Ad Grant support. This service is priced at $475 and we typically have 2-4 open slots each month.

Here’s the process:

  1. Complete the request form to confirm eligibility (1 minute or less) and we will respond within one business day.
  2. If approved, we will send an online payment link for the fee ($475)
  3. Answer the intake questionnaire (10-15 minutes) and provide access to your Google Ad Grant account (instructions provided)
  4. Schedule your review call (typically one week out)
  5. Review results on our Zoom call (60 mins) and discuss recommended next steps for your organization.

Frequently Asked Questions

To apply for the Google Ad Grant your organization has to be accepted into the Google for Nonprofits program first. This means your organization must hold a valid charity status in its country. In the United States, your organization must be registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Certain categories of organization are not eligible for Google Ad Grants. These include governmental entities and organizations, hospitals and medical groups, schools, academic institutions, and universities.

Your organization must own the domain and website that visitors will land on after clicking a link from an ad.

Your website must also follow certain quality guidelines, including details about security, content, and user experience. We will work with you (or your web developer) to implement any updates needed to meet Google’s “high-quality website” guidelines.

The Google Ad Grant program requires that you stay compliant with a detailed set of policies in order for the $10,000/mo grant to stay active. You can read more about the compliance policy here.

The main benefit of using a Google Ad Grant management service is that you don’t need to worry about these details: we will set up and maintain your account to keep the grant active.

The Google Ad Grant program requires that you have conversion tracking set up, and setting up Google Analytics goals or conversion events is one option to achieve that. Alternatively, you can add Google Ads conversion tracking without installing Google Analytics.

Setting up conversion tracking allows you to optimize your Google Ad campaigns for specific desirable user actions on your website, like signing up for your email list, downloading a resource, or making a donation.
