Nonprofit Website WordPress Redesign

We provided a complete website overhaul, rebuild, and refresh for the Peace & Justice Center in Burlington, VT. PJC is a Vermont nonprofit working to build a peaceful and just world through education, training, nonviolent activism, and community organizing around interconnected economic, social and environmental justice issues.

Complete overhaul for an aging WordPress website

The Peace & Justice Center had an aging WordPress website that we worked together to overhaul and replace. In discussion with PJC staff, we identified these challenges with the previous website:

• The website was difficult to maintain and edit
• Users were seeing security warnings, related to a mis-configured SSL certificate
• The website was difficult to navigate, with many pages buried several layers deep or not linked in the menu at all

In addition to this technical challenges, the Peace & Justice Center has recently moved through a transition in executive leadership and was completing a rebrand, with a new logo and visual identity system in place. Refreshing the website provided an opportunity to launch the new logo across the organization’s web, email, and social channels.

The result: A refreshed, mobile-responsive, secure WordPress website

In addition to standard blog posts and pages, the new website takes advantage of WordPress custom content types to better organize content for:

• Events (both organized by PJC and submitted by community partners)
• Allied Groups (local partner organizations for whom PJC serves as a fiscal sponsor)
• People (staff and Board members)
• Job and internship postings

The new website integrates with third-party services, including:

• Form integrations with Little Green Light for processing donations and membership applications
• Email marketing integration with Constant Contact
• Online store and ecommerce transactions with Shopkeep and Ecwid
