If you run communications and marketing for a nonprofit organization, you’ve probably tried Googling your organization to see what shows up on that brand.
But today, potential donors, visitors, service users (and all sorts of other people) are also using AI tools to research your organization.
To reflect this change, I’ve started doing quick checks on what an AI tool like ChatGPT has to say about an organization that I’m working with. It’s hard to do this in a scientific or systematic way: a tool like ChatGPT will return different response each time it’s asked. But it’s still worth taking a look!
Watch the video below to see an example. The set up is super simple:
- Be sure to use a private or incognito browsing window, and make sure that you are NOT logged in to a ChatGPT account
- Try starting with the prompt “what do you know about [organization name]?”
Once you see the response, here are a few things to think about:
- Is the information accurate?
- Is there important information that is missing?
- Where is the information coming from?
This is a super simple exercise. It will take you one minute to do (although I bet you’ll get sucked into exploring beyond the initial prompt …)
